The British reggae producer Dennis Bovell's second album, originally released in 1980, is a largely solo effort that follows in the dubwise footsteps of its predecessor. More imaginative yet less manic than his Jamaican counterparts King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry, Bovell nevertheless has the essential dub producer's knack of playing the mixing desk like an instrument, and the wit and technique to keep his musical explorations consistently spellbinding.


Blackbeard is the alias of Dennis Bovell, the visionary punky-reggae producer and pioneer embracedby the punk rock movement. His highly praised follow-up album I Wah Dub, which further cemented his role as the dub pirate, has been described by Trouser Press as a ''creation of aurally pungent tracks infused with musical witticisms from merely excellent to brilliant.''

As founder member of UK Reggae pioneers Matumbi, Dennis Bovell is truly part of UK Reggae royalty. Formed in the early '70s, Mutumbi quickly installed themselves at the front of the UK scene and confirmed their position with late 70's EMI releases such as Seven Seals and Point Of View. With Matumbi, Bovell established himself as the real deal. He was soon collaborating with reggae legends I Roy and Johnny Clarke and followed this working with the likes of '80s superstars The Thompson Twins and Bananarama. A successful period of writing, recording and production followed as Bovell continued to make innovative, important and inspired music. Over 30 years since he arrived on the musical scene he still has the energy, emotion and insight to make great reggae music and in All Over The World has created an album which will re-fresh the UK reggae scene. 12 tracks.
