Famous for its silk as voice (hence Garnett Silk) Garnett was an Overnight Sensation in the early 1990s Jamaican Dancehall scene


He started in the mid-1980s deejaying on various sound systems and even the registration of single track by the acronym "Little Bimbo" In the first part of the 90th century, his locks had grown out and he went from Deejay for the singer to change its name to Garnett Silk


born Garnett Silk Daymon Smith (2 April 1966) in Brumalia district of Mandeville Jamaica He was taken under the wing Rasta DJ Tony Rebel and introduced to Sugar Minott's Youthman Promotion sound system that had a hand in recruiting many young acts who later became international stars


Together with Rebel Silk reinstate Rastafarianism into adancehall scene by 1992 had become almost overwrought with X-rated and violent texts then burst on the scene recording many hit songs and albums with "Nothing can separate us" "It's Growing" and "100% Silk"


Tragically a fire at his mother's house on 9 December 1994 killed two Garnett and his mother (with Garnett first escape since giving up his life trying to save his mother), the Jamaican reggae scene was shocked by his death, and it is a testament to his talent and his amazing voice to his music still sells all over the world today, perhaps stronger now than it did before his untimely death
