It does not take much to realise why there is so much hype and interest in this
new artiste. He has an almost identical sound and voice like the world famous
reggae artiste, “Buju Banton”. This liking of sounds was not created to sound
the same; it was a style that “Shadrock” has always had for over 18 years.
Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica but now living in Canada, “Shadrock” was often
called “Little Buju” as he started his career djing and recording dubplates for
the local sound systems. “Shadrock” has tried on many occasions to shake off
that label, by introducing new styles and sounds to his music and voice, but
because it is his voice, he has just decided to be himself and let the world
hear what he has to offer.
Shadrock's music has been charted in “Seychelles”, South Africa, Toronto and
Montréal, Canada. He has toured with many bands, but the jewel in his musical
crown was when he met “Winnie Mandela” in South Africa and was a guest at her
house, as she thanked him and other artistes, for performing at an “Aids
Awareness” concert held in 2002.
This autumn will see the launch of Shadrock’s; new album entitled “Shadrock
Moving Forward” on the “Utopia Record Label”. This 14 song album shows the style
and versatility of “Shadrock’s” talent, as he rides on popular reggae rhythms
like the “Good To Go”, “Queen Majesty” and the “Fiesta 2” rhythm. But it’s his
lead single “Shadrock” that has the radio disc jockeys talking about this new
kid on the block.
This song “Shadrock” shows the smooth flow of this artiste and his power to ride
any rhythm given to him. Already there are hopes that this song will reach
international air play, with a few dj’s in California, Miami, London and Hawaii
already showing there liking to the preview and have requested their hard copy.
2005 summer schedule: Saw Shadrock performing at the Calgary Reggae Festival,
The Toronto Irie Festival alongside “Third World” and the Toronto Jamaica day
Concert alongside “Professor Nuts” and “Admiral Bailey”.
Awards: “TIRMA” 2005 Best single of the year for “SHOTTA and “Best Year To Year
DJ from Military Sounds 2005 Awards Gala.
